Scenario Example

A student in your class with a learning difference, ADHD, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, asks the teacher for extra time on the upcoming test. The teacher replies saying, no, everyone gets the same amount of time to complete the test so that it is fair. As a result, the student with the learning difference is unable to complete the test in the time that they are given. Since they are unable to finish the test, their mark is poor and the teacher does not let them complete it later.

Question

What is this an example of? Do you think the teacher’s response was fair? If you were the teacher, do you think you would have responded differently? If so, how? When/in what situation(s) do you think equality would work?
